Waterman's - Galveston

I read the reviews and I guess it created an expectation that the experience failed to deliver. It is a neat place. The prices are way too high for the quality of food. The service was actually subpar. Waiter took 15 minutes to get drink order. Then we had to go in search of refills because he did not check on us. He brought the drinks, took it order and we didn't see him until I got up heading toward the kitchen area for a refill. The food was bland. One member ordered a burger and they didn't ask her how she wanted it cooked and it came out medium rare. She didn't want it that way. Typically if a restaurant does not ask, you expect it well done but not here!! I may give them another shot because sometimes you get a one off experience, but I will not go out of my way to do so.

The crab cake was awesome. The waterman salad was just spring mix with a very small goat cheese. It did not have the raspberry dressing. The red snapper with Texas topping was just ok. We have been here before when it had been amazing. It also was very small portion for $60. Service was great !

The food and cocktails were good, and our server was attentive. We really enjoyed the live music. However, this is not the cleanest place on the island, nor the most affordable. For an upscale restaurant, I would expect a much nicer atmosphere. I don’t mind paying higher prices, but when I do, my expectation is that I get what I am paying for. Waterman’s fell short for me by quite a bit. Putting Market Value/Market Price (MV/MP) on a steak is absurd. If my meal came with lobster, I could get behind the MV listing on the menu. Had I of known that my filet was over $60, I would have never ordered it. If I'm going to pay that much for a steak, it better be worth it, and this one was not. It didn't have any seasoning and it was cold in the center I ordered it medium rare. The only flavor came from the mushrooms I had added. We were excited to dine here due to the reviews we read online. Unfortunately, we were disappointed and we're not going to be going back any time soon.

We regularly enjoy dinner at Waterman's! It's our favorite restaurant, Being able to eat out on the patio is especially wonderful! I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!
