La Cocina De Abuela - Gainesville

I eat here about once a week and the food is always awesome but today I ordered a Cuban to go definitely was the worst Cuban I ever ate I have had 2 Cubans from there and was the best I ever had. Today i it was not a Cuban it was more like a barbeque pulled pork sandwich pressed with cheese gobs of mustard and pickles. No ham on it at all. Maybe they gave me someone else's order.

Pretty sure they are tired of seeing me! Lol I love this place!

This place is AMAZING. Attention working people with children...THIS is what you need...hearty house cooked meals with a bomb play area. HELLO!!! Why did I wait this long to come???

My first meal in the area and it was amazing. I legitimately think about this meal every other week. There are so many options and items to choose from and the staff will help you build your own plate. I got the ropa vieja with black beans and yucca fries. There’s inside seating with many tables and quaint decor, I definitely want to try more at Abuela’s cocina. There’s some parking in the strip, be cautious of lunchtime peak hours!

My husband and I brought two of our children to La Cocina de Abuela for dinner last night. It was a return visit for us having visited for the first time the Friday before last. We were so impressed by the quality of the food and service that we decided a return visit was called for. My husband had the pot roast, White rice, black beans, and plantains. I had the chicken Fricasse, White rice, lentil beans, and plantains. Our son and daughter each had a kids plate of the pot roast, White rice, black beans, and plantains. We were brought a complimentary order of Yucca Fries with garlic sauce as they were sold out when we first arrived and expressed regret as it is a favorite of myself and my son. The kids split an Inca Cola to drink. My husband had an Iron Beer and I had a Kombucha with lavender and Peppermint to drink. The restaurant has a play area which makes it very family kid friendly. The food and service were as good as it was on our first visit and we look forward to returning in the near future.
