IL Porto - Frederick

How much do I adore Il Porto?let me count the ways. The food is fresh, delicious, both innovative and classic. The atmosphere is romantic and also social: It feels like Little Italy, a place you long to linger. Go for dinner and you will become a regular. It happened to me.

Visited 8.13.22 Was packed but we were seated quick. Service was outstanding, quickly checked on us and kept our water glasses full. Drinks were surprisingly cheap but delicious and very nicely presented. A friend got the **** Orange martini and I got the Presidential martini. For food choices, a friend got the chicken Parmesan and I got the shrimp and scallops Fra Diavolo. Both were delicious. Highly recommended.

We weren't overly excited about the food and found it to be average. The salad was $8 and was mostly iceberg lettuce with few veggies besides carrots and no olives. Cost was high. Parking is on the street or in a nearby garage with a 5-7 minute walk. You'll be within 5 minutes of Carroll Creek and the downtown of wonderful Frederick.

Service was very good. Two photos show lobster and shrimp white sauce special $37.00) and seafood platter red sauce $23.00). I had the red and it was mostly large calamari as you can see with 4 clams, 2 scallops, 6 mussels and two shrimp. I counted over 30 calamari rings. In my opinion and experience a seafood platter has a balance of seafood, e.g., 6 mussels, 4 clams 5 scallops, 5 shrimp and 10 calamari. A colossal ripoff here. Wonderful ambience. We totally loved the food, the wine collection was splendid. I would definitely recommend this beautiful Italian restaurant to foodies who are passing by from Frederick.
