Bidrage med feedbackI had this place recommended to me as one of my favourite Austrian dishes is Gröstl. It's a typical Austrian restaurant that has a welcoming atmosphere. They seem to specialise in wine but as I'm not a wine drinker, I can't comment. My friends were...impressed with the wine quality though. Anyway, the Tyrolean Gröstl was good though I was disappointed that they had put pepper in there which took me ages to take out (pepper does not agree with me). Pepper is not a typical ingredient of Gröstl. Having said that, it was good quality, plentiful and at a reasonable price. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was good. I'd definitely go again.
This was the best food we ate in Burgenland! Must visit! We had Tirolean dish Grostl and daily menu which was pastry filled with meat, really tasty! Not expensive!
By chance we decided to stay overnight in Frauenkirchen. Host advised us to have a dinner in this restaurant. And it was 100% lucky choice!Family-type cosy restaurant. No English menu but we got immediate help from the owner (I think). He magically converted our orders into Austrian cuisine and we greatly enjoyed the meal. My son just made a hint he did not like the dessert and host asked what kind of chocolate he likes and hastily brought new dessert for him! My special gratitude for the meat! It was so much delicious. And it became even better with a glass of local wine that I was generously granted. We enjoyed the place very much and truly this dinner became the highlight of our Austrian part of the trip.
We loved it although it was too cold to sit on the terrace. The cuisine was generous and delicious, lots of typical Austrian dishes, nice service .The highlight though is the Wirt who is also the "chef" : he is great fun and love to share the clients opinions on the wines while he bring one bottle after another ! Watch out for the driving after !It is certainly one of the best address in that part of Burgenland. Do go.
