Bidrage med feedbackThis is an average review for an average experience. It wasn't so spectacular that I'd go out of my way to go back here but it wasn't so bad either that i can't say I won't ever go back. Never say never right?! It was just ok. The lady was also a bit overbearing, telling us how we should arrange our seats (because 2 of us ordered the barbecue plate to share) and where to put back the plates and utensils after eating (it's self service) which happened at least twice. It's funny in a way, reminds us of moms' annoying habit of repeating instructions
I have been wanting to try this place since before it even opened (I kind of stalk it via my tramline into the city . The modern and minimalistic decor paired with being a Korean place had my interest peaked from the start. And when I found out this place was Korean well-being cuisine , it was peaked even more. What in the world is Korean well-being food in the first place? (No seriously, I have no idea and am curious even though it sounded interesting . FINALLY I made it to Yuyumi today for lunch. The menu has a fair amount of dishes, all of which seem to be quick bowls of rice and a variety of foods. One can argue that this is not authentic Korean, and I believe it probably isn 't even close. But I 'm not one to shy away from good food, even if it is pretty westernized. The place seemed to be packed with Koreans and other Asians who were enjoying some well-being cuisine. My boyfriend and I ordered two bowls- one #25 (a bulgogi and squid rice bowl and a #31 (a kimchi and pork rice bowl . Both were pretty massive and ran us around 9 euros or less per person. When you order here, you must order upon walking in, are handed an 'order is ready! ' device, and you pick your seat and chill out until the food is ready. In our case, it was like 25 minutes. Thank gosh I had a Korean Hite beer to drink in the mean time. How on earth does this place function during a non-holiday when packed at lunch with 25 minute wait times for food? I truly hope this was a one-off situation! We picked up our food and it was just average. I enjoyed myself and wouldn 't be opposed to going back one day, but the food isn 't anything I can 't replicate myself in my own kitchen. And dare I say... I think I could do it better. But for the price and amount of food you get, I wasn 't upset about it. The kimchi bowl was better than the bulgogi and squid bowl, but it seemed as though the kimchi was a quick kimchi and not one that had kimchi fermented for some time, losing much of the flavor the cabbage typically would give off. Both were supposed to be extra hot and obviously they weren 't. But they do offer a side of hot sauce you can take to your table to heat things up a bit. They didn 't overdue the toasted sesame oil or gochujang paste which was to my liking (I like both, just not in overpowering measures . Overall, this place was alright. I would go back there as I really like the interior and the friendliness of the workers. They are slow, but I hope it was just a fluke. I also like that they have two nice tables out back that you can enjoy your food at without being distressed about the circus of people hanging around the Hauptbahnhof. I also like the concept of Korean well-being cuisine which I 'm sure is just a made up thing. I guess I just love seeing Frankfurt dive into the Korean cuisine culture a bit more ; Now that I 'm home, I 'm trying to see the effects of this well-being cuisine and truthfully, I just feel tired and am in a food coma. Maybe tomorrow I will notice a pick up of energy and a loss of 25 pounds. We shall see....
Pleasantry: Thanks so much for serving a piping hot bowl of Dolsot Bibimbap with all the veggies and meat aligned so well inside the bowl. Yes, very hot, the way I want it. On a mildly cold night in Frankfurt, it served as a very warm pleasantry. The Dolsot Bibimbap was on the average side but not a problem, the chili sauce kicked it up a bit. The decor has a nice ambiance with the modern design, dim with candle lit and flowers. Came in to a good available seating that night. Only 2 other patrons dining that night ahead and 2 more after seating myself. The wait time to get food was not much of a wait time. There's no waiter/waitress service, self serve when your beeper lights up. Label: Good Food, Good Price, Nice Place to Eat. Gripe 1: First, the door was stuck upon entering, I had to get the attention of the staff from the outside. After I entered they went to fix it. Perhaps that was the reason there was only two people dining when entering. Not so much a gripe. Gripe 2: Hostess does not speak English and probably no German but that's okay and not an issue. The problem is she said nothing no hello no word at all, just weak gestures with her hands. And she was not very friendly as per when in the restaurant and exiting when I Thanked her for food and said goodbye. Shitty hospitality. I guess, it's what goes with self service. Supposedly, it was not a liking to her that the way the establishment operates is not a normal way to order food: host shows seat, order food, you're served, eat and lastly pay AND greeted with at least a hello. But the process works a bit different: first, it's order or seat yourself then pay, wait for the beeper when food is ready and then go get your own food. When done, put your tray in the sliding cabinet or I'm not sure if it's proper etiquette to leave your tray on the table for them to clean up, being self serve, I did it myself. Tip, of course I believe not needed for the type of restaurant or country culture and laugh if it was needed it for not so good service and not even a thanks or gesture when leaving. But it was a good meal and a great place to dine. Thanks again and I will be back knowing the manner in which things are done.
I Have jumped into the restaurant by coincidence and ate a very good simple Korean noodle dish. The waitress was very nice and explained me all the dishes. The food is cooked at order and, yes you need to wait, but you are sure you receive a freshly made dish. I had the kimchi noodles with tofu and were very good. It is a nice modern asian culinary location. The restaurant itself was very clean as well.
