Cibo buonissimo e personale molto cordiale. Consigliato!

Decided to have dinner after reading good reviews. We have been in Italy for two weeks and this was our first mistake. Menu offers risotto but dish is made with rice. And pretty sure the shrimp served with it were not fresh. But if you are looking for a budget meal, this is your place.

Abbiamo mangiato due volte nel ristorante dello zio gigi, il primo perché ci è stato consigliato, il secondo perché sarebbe stato un peccato non tornarci. Il proprietario è una persona molto calorosa e ti fa sentire subito a tuo agio, la cucina è eccellente, soprattutto il filetto al pepe verde, e il servizio è rapido e ben curato. Ogni tanto, durante la cena, lo zio gigi canta anche!

Normally when we travel we try a few different restaurants for the sake of variety. But when we had dinner at Zio Gigi we felt so at home that we knew this was the place we wanted to come back to again and again. Everything was so fresh, made with top quality ingredients and cooked lovingly in an authentic home style. Tucked away in a quiet side street although just a couple of minutes from the Duomo, Zio Gigi was obviously popular with local customers. The head waiter sang popular classic Italian songs while we tucked into a huge and succulent Florentine steak, ribollita, pici with polpettini, tagliata di manzo, rustic pizza, tomato and mozzarella caprese, Florentine tripe, tiramisu and splendid homemade cakes not all at once of course; we kept coming back again and again.
