Bidrage med feedbackWe were not impressed in the beginning. The bread tasted like it was from a supermarket. We then ordered the artichoke omelette, which was very bland and boring and at 20€ is very overpriced. However, the two mains saved our night. The funghi pasta and tomato bread soup were both nice and traditional Tuscan meals. The desserts, cream caramel and tiramisu were both quite nice aswell. We are both vegetarian and they were accommodating for us. Overall, a quite good experience, with a few ups and downs.
Tourist Trap!! I came here because it was recommended on Eater’s 38 Essential Restaurant’s in Florence. We have traveled to Italy for over 20 years and in four of the last five years. On this trip, we had been traveling throughout Europe and had gone to several cities before Florence finding many fine places off of Eater. Walking into Buca Dell’Orafo, is to walk below street level, down into a dingy very cramped one room dining area. The wait staff are two confused and overwhelmed young adults. The only other room is the kitchen that is manned by a single “chef”. A walk through the kitchen is required to get to the bathroom. We ordered 4 out of the 5 appetizers to share in order to sample a variety of Florentine food. We didn’t receive any of the appetizers that we ordered. Instead we got 4 slices of prosciutto, 4 brined artichokes (that you can get out of a jar) and 4 slices of a type of lard-ladened salami that was unknown (and inedible). My adult daughter ordered polo fritto (Fried chicken) and received chicken bones that had been deep fried but no actual chicken meat. We attempted to add a pasta to our order and overheard the “chef” refusing to prepare it. Bizarre. Despite the lack of service or food, they attempted to charge us for the items we had ordered. We had to clear that up. It also took nearly 30 minutes to get our checks. If you’re looking for PTSD, rather than a good meal, this is the place for you! Otherwise, try the countless other restaurants in Florence that at a minimum have a fine atmosphere and adequate staff and edible food!
Incredibly disappointing. Horrendously overpriced. Where do I begin….To have three ?! white wines to choose from only to be told they don’t have the one you want; to the food portions being small; to the fact the ‘best’ food we tasted of our selection of orders was the melon. There are plenty of better choices. A restaurant perhaps known for its unique location, has become greedy.
Nice restaurant … very small and quaint atmosphere. They open at 7:30 for dinner and the front door opens down Into a basement area where the dining room is located. I tried rabbit for the first time here. Its right by the river and a pedestrian bridge with lots of retail shops from Rolex and Petek Philip to leather goods and souvenirs. The pesto pasta was a favorite in our group. We were a bit warm, granted there was a heat wave
We had reservations for 7:30 and I thought it was kind of quiet as it is february. but when we arrived, there was a series of people who had also kept up. we all sat fast. this restaurant is so tiny! we suspected it was about 35. everyone was taken. I can see why. eating was excellent as the service. really a joy! we recommend this little
