Il Maglio - Ferriere

Found this restaurant in a small town, as we were heading toward Liguria and its beaches. It is on the last stretch of the mountains, going up, before beginning to head downhill toward the beaches of Liguria. The dishes here are mostly regional, with pork dishes, I felt, very good. It is in a cozy atmosphere with lots of stone and a place to eat outside during the summer. I must believe, in talking to locals, that during the winter, with their large fireplaces blazing, that it must be so cozy. It, like many spots around here, it is family run and we found them very friendly. Good wine selection, especially in such a small and out of the way, town. It is actually not out of the way as it is, during the warmer month, used by many cyclists who do not want to use the highways to get to the beaches not far, in the next province/region, but cycle from the cities nearest which I believe are Milan, Piacenza, Pavia....! Again, I believe it would be at its best as a gathering point, during the winter, for locals especially, as the kitchen sizzles, the fires roar and the wine is flowing. Also, just to mention it, lunch for 2 with wine was less that $30.00.

We had already been in this place, trying the pizza round, but we were not excited, the kind of pasta and the slightly heavy condiments had not met our goto. this time, attracted by the cool and safe (for covid purposes) location of the garden, we tried the kitchen, tasting meat seconds that are well made and with good raw materials and sweets, also these good ones. Friendly and fast service, adequate price. A proposal valid especially for outdoors in the hottest nights.

Excellent local, both as a bar to meet friends and drink excellent distillates and wines, as well as as a restaurant and pizzeria. I am a lover of the dishes that offers the restaurant, here I ate some very good (packages with zucchini shrimp and mushrooms. classic butter and wipes. and the very special seconds will make memorant. chopped tuna with balsamic vinegar. sweets both to the spoon and others from the sin of throat! the list of wines offers excellent wines and various cellars of the territory as others at national level. What to say. stop at sweat for a sin of throat.
