South Bay Fairfield

We came to South Bay for an impromptu dinner after an event without a reservation. Ultimately, we were disappointed in our experience. Typical seating was quick and prompt. Ordering our drinks and apps was also within reason. The part where our drinks (including water) and app plates were empty for around 45 minutes while the staff was having conversations feet away from us was frustrating. Having one member of the staff talking with a person outside, letting cold air rush in for 10 or so minutes was annoying. In all, we were there was close to 2 hours and ate in a rush. The waitress was kind enough to offer us complimentary champagne when our food finally arrived, but never apologized for the delay. The food was good, just wish we could have enjoyed it more. I do not recommend South Bay if you have any plans after your meal. We may try again in the future, as the staff was friendly and the food was good. However, this singular experience was frustrating and not enjoyable. Kid-friendliness: Due to the slow pace, I do not view this place as kid-friendly. They do have high chairs. They don't have a kids menu.

We had a bridal shower here for my fiancé and it was truly a wonderful experience. The staff was so nice, they were incredibly attentive. The food was also phenomenal. They have a perfect set up for a party. It was just such a wonderful experience for everyone involved!

Food and drinks were very good. Would return. Seating downstairs near the bar can be cool. We had to sit with our coats on. We mentioned something to the waitress and she acknowledged like she was aware of the issue, indicating that it was warmer upstairs.

Love this spot! The restaurant has an outdoor dining area as well as a pretty bar/dining area with two floors of dining space. The restaurant is nicely decorated with great views. For dinner we started with half a dozen oysters which were a great start. For my entree I had the hangar steak served with spinach. What a meal! The steak was perfectly cooked at the temperature I wanted. It was packed with flavor and oh so tender. My girlfriend had the roasted chicken scarpiello (sp.? served with mashed potatoes and spinach. She loved it, the portion was huge. For dessert we had the pecan pie which was absolutely delicious it was served with ice cream which seemed to have some maple syrup flavoring.

It started off a little slow, but when the food arrived it was really good.
