Bidrage med feedbackWe found this place whilst travelling in Evora on a Sunday which was difficult as a lot of places were closed so we chose to try out this place. The man who we met as soon as we entered was not very friendly, but the lady in the kitchen was, which made the experience a bit better. The food was good enough, a bit greasy but still simple and good.
We visited the town on a guided tour. Honestly speaking, there was nothing spectacular about it other than the fact that it had a history. We were looking for the local countryside specific local food, and we ventured on one of the narrow cobblestone streets too narrow for cars. On one of these streets where there was virtually no movement as far as we could see we found this tiny place, with a small bar and 5 tables for those who wished to eat. We picked the 2 locals recommended items a fish dish and a pork dish. There was nothing special about the dishes. They would not accept cards. Lunch for 2 was 20 E (including tip, which was not expected). We would not recommend it.
We do not speak Portuguese; they do not speak English. However we managed to order and enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by locals. We had very tasty vegetable soup with bread, olives and spreads, followed by two fish dishes. One traditional bacalhau and a fish fillet with salad and rice. The serves are generous, and the fish was very good indeed. We drank water and the bill was less than 16 euros. The woman who does the cooking is also charming and helpful. She speaks French.
When we entered, we only saw local people (usually a good sign). It was a good surprise to discuss in french with the cook, she advised us for the choice of the dishes. It was simple, fresh and tasty (fries were home made). It's a good quality/price address. I warmly recommend!
