Hamdi Somali Cuisine - Etobicoke

OK this is the OG Somali place. Truly amazing food and very very nice people but not exactly white glove napkin on your arm Butler service. Perfectly adequate though and the food is delicious. In particular, the gold shoulder is truly the jewel in the crown. I’m also a big fan of spaghetti and fried chicken drumsticks overall truly a wonderful experience.

The food is excellent. However, I feel there is a lot of room for improvement in service quality. It was a long wait to get served and have my order ready. If customers are waiting in line, it will be helpful to approach them, greet them and let them know the approximate wait time.

It’s tragic when you finally find a go to place for your meals and all of a sudden the food that the restaurant is serving leftovers/ kept in the heater for too long. I usually drive a lot of miles to eat in this place but not anymore.

Rexdale location- The food was terrible, very hard chewy meat and they served it cold. The fish was cold and dry. They give you large portions but the quality and execution was week. Also, didn’t see many Somali people there, which lead me to believe they have moved on from this place which at one time was great.
