Le Baryon - Entremont-le-Vieux

Great local restaurant for Savoyarde fayre. We popped in on the off chance of a table and they managed to squeeze the 6 of us in. Very enjoyable evening- fun atmosphere, traditional surroundings and a very fair price for the food.

Le Baryon has always been a favourite of ours when visiting Plagne Soleil, so we booked ahead to eat there on the day of our arrival as it has historically always been packed (which it wasn’t! when you know you will have had a long journey and a tiring day you want something you can rely on. Sadly for the first time it let us down in some aspects. The staff were friendly as always and we tipped them accordingly, but the food was disappointing. The cote de boeuf, while tasty, was very fatty and ALL the accompanying vegetables were either cold or only mildly warm, though again were tasty. Normally we would have complained but were were too tired to be bothered. Sadly it felt like the chef was too tired to be bothered also. If you do go here, the cook your own cheese options are likely to be your best options. We didn’t have a starter and, given the quality of the main, didn’t stay for dessert so cannot comment on those. One final point, there seems to be a new owner/manager who spent the time we were there sat in the corner, eating his own meal, barking orders to his staff while not bothering to engage with customers and just handing his wine glass to bar staff to be refilled without even a word of thanks. It did not make for a good impression.

Really disappointing I am afraid. Nothing special, moody waitress, very expensive for what it was. Decor was nice though. Steak was dreadfully overcooked and not replaced when pointed out so customer care lacking over profit in my opinion. Would not go back again when staying as we do annually in La Plagne.

A great family moment with our four children! neat hamburgers with a real nice chopped steak, a high-quality tartare, a pretty, not too sweet blueberry pie, chocolate melts to fall on the ground and good wines of the crisp. all in a tastefully decorated atmosphere and a warm welcome. It was perfect!

A very good time of end of winter season with friends.Simple but high quality dishes cooked to perfection, warm welcome, quality ratio unbeatable price!
