Villa Giulia - ENNA

Really, really, really bad food and wine. The meat looked old and tasted as such, the mixed salad was terrible: lettuce only and seemed to start to rot. We should have been warned: no guests and less than half of the restaurant's tables were set. Service was not to be found. Couldn't wait to leave. I am not joking: Stay away from this place!

We dined here twice on our recent visit to Pergusa and received an exceptionally warm welcome on both occasions. The staff certainly go out of their way to please. On the first night we ate swordfish which was absolutely wonderful moist and perfectly cooked. On the second evening we had the local bean pasta and salads. The meals were really good value for money. There was no 'menu ' as such and we were given a choice of foods available each evening. The choice was not huge but sufficient. The dining room of this hotel is huge but retains a friendly feel even when only a few people are in it which was the case on both nights that we were there. We would definitely return for a basic, inexpensive meal in extremely friendly surroundings.

It was Xmas Eve around 5pm. My wife and I were not expecting too much in place like Pergusa : We just ran into this hotel near our B&B. Surprisingly, a lot of local people were dining, which looks like a family gathering. We asked if there was still a table available. Guess what, the waiter, who cannot speak English, just led us to a table and invited a lovely lady from another table as the interpreter. So all I need to explain to the lady is I like meat and my wife would prefer fish. Then, comes the full course dinner, from starter to sweet and coffee/liqueur as wrap up, each course with meat and sea food separately. My wife and I were overwhelmed by the choice of food and hospitality of the waiters and the people around. I guess it is quite unusual for locals to see 2 Chinese at Xmas eve : We had a lot of Kodak moment with them... When the bill comes... wow, it is totally value for money!

I went to Villa Giulia last december. It is a wonderful hotel, I had a good holiday and a good treatment. The accomodation was clean and spacious. Moreover, I cannot deny that food is of good quality and delicious, you have the possibilities to taste a lot of Sicilian specialities. A further source of appreciation is the service in the restaurant, it is very good the servers are polite, efficient and very professional. I am very satisfied and I want recommend it because you can spend a good time there.
