Bidrage med feedbackWe were in the area during the COVID-19 Labor Day Weekend. We had been to the Mystery Spot and decided to take in a 2:00 PM lunch at The Gangplank as they had good reviews. They do not have many tables so we had to wait a few minutes for a second table as we had such a large group. Although the restaurant was not right on the water (it is across the street from it) it still has a nice view. The staff was friendly but the service was slow as we only saw one waitress working. However, it was a holiday so we were not in a hurry. The Gangplank has a large selection of sandwiches, burgers and some salads. Our table started off with the hummus and the wings appetizers. The hummus had so much flavor and was served with two yummy dipping crisps. Nearly all 10 of us ordered something different and it was all excellent. The portions were plentiful and cooked to order. Note: two people in our group work in the restaurant industry and are real foodies. They give The Gangplank two thumbs up!
We were driving through St. Ignace and thought we’d stop for lunch, before heading to Castle Rock. This place is right near the water with outdoor seating, a great view and nice breeze. I had the Hump Day burger .... 1/3 lb. charbroiled burger, lettuce, tomatoes, onion straws, fried pickles and 2 things I left off (fried peppers and boom boom sauce), because I’m a wimp. That had to be one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! My husband had the Mac Attack, which was their play on a grown up Big Mac.... two 1/3 lb. charbroiled burgers, double cheese, shredded lettuce, pickles, onion straws and special sauce. The burger patties were awesome because they had a bit of crunch on the outside and we’re cooked JUST RIGHT! The fries were great too because they were thick cut fresh (not frozen) fries and the iced tea was even really good. Service was great as well ... she never let our tea glass get empty. This is THE place to stop if you’re anywhere nearby!
We did a quick stop in Saint Ignace on our way up to Pictured Rocks and were planning on stopping my family favorite The Galley, and were extremely sad to see it closed. This was a good replacement. It did not have the character or family feel that the Galley had, but the food was wonderful, which is why you go in the first place. My fiancé and friend got burgers and enjoyed, while I go the Spicy Shrimp Po Boy. The White Fish Appetizer was delicious and highly recommend. You go to a Restaurant for Food, which is why it scored so high. The house sauce for the fries is also very good. You can tell the food is cooked fresh or there. The view of the water is beautiful. We were doing a cheap trip so no alcohol for us, but they had an extensive and personalized cocktail list. Cons: The waitstaff was slow, I believe the waitstaff were also the cooks, so understandable, but wish they could have helped each other out with refilling our waters etc. The entire restaurant is outside and open, which is wonderful except for bad weather or bad heat. Food was a bit pricy but what you expect from a tourist town. I don't think its extremely family friendly, but great for friends, couples, or adults etc.
Fantastic Pizza! (At the store by the Sunoco Station)
We stopped at this restaurant on our way from Upper Peninsula to Traverse City for lunch. The place was very clean, friendly, and comfortable. They had good spacing for COVID concerns and the food was excellent. I tried a sandwich called Slim Sam and it was really delicious. I highly recommend this diner if you are in the area. The staff was very friendly, the service was fast, and the food was delicious.
