Nice location friendly service. Food and wine were great!
Cozy atmosphere and very good wines. Highly recommended!
We did not really enjoy a lot of food at the Koegler, but the wine was always one of our favorites. Great place, hidden in beautiful Eltville.
We went to the restaurant this evening with our family (8 of us including a 4 and 5 years old) and had a table booked for 6.30pm. We arrived in good time (6.20pm) and my first impression was very positive. The setting of the restaurant...in the garden with very impressive with the most amazing Oleander trees. Sadly it went downhill from there on pretty quickly. On the way in I overheard the service staff talking about the evening ahead and they said something along the lines that we will survive somehow ...... Now I know that I should have taken this as a warning signal and turned around! The service was one of the worst I have ever experienced. I do understand that things can go wrong however firmly believe that a good hotel restaurant stands out by the way they try to recover from such situations. Sadly tonight they did not make any attempt to recover..... Being with young kids we were hoping for a quick dinner and decided to have just main courses with just two Flammkuchen (they were delicious) to share as a starter. Thank goodness for that as we otherwise would have starved. We placed the order for food at about 6.50pm and were finally served our main courses just after 8pm. This is totally unacceptable! And then my wife 's and mine Rump Stakes were served very rare and not medium rare as ordered. Clearly a sign of rushing the food out as we had been complaining about the long wait for a few times. We also ran out of water and wine on several occasions and they had to be reminded several times as they just forgot the order. We really liked the wine we had (Kuegler Gruener Veltliner) and were planning to buy a cases or two but sadly they forgot this too so we went home without them. They clearly did not have enough staff to run a full restaurant and am sure the same goes for the kitchen too. The worst part however was that there was not a single sorry or any form of apology. Even worse, our waitress was blaming other guests arriving at the same time and it just being a busy night. I am really sorry, but this is not my problem! The highlight was when I asked for my steak to be cooked a little longer. I just got a cold stare but not a single word out of her mouth. Unbelievable! Having seen how the table next to use was spoken to by their, what we thought was a waitress (it turned out to the one of the owners), I just could not bring up the energy to complain further and left very unhappy. A real shame as this place has so much potential. The quality of the food was actually pretty good as was the wine. However the service we experienced will make me stay away from this place forever and I will make sure they my friends and family will do the same.
