Bidrage med feedbackWe had been wanting to try this place for a long time but just never had the chance until today. The meats (brisket, ribs and sausage) were delicious! The Mac and cheese was dry and flavorless. I had the 'El Paso ' baked potato and it was OK. Overall, the new location looks great and the staff is friendly.
Very small seating area inside. A few tables outside. Try to avoid the rushes if you want a table. Service was quick and staff were friendly. Barbecue was okay. But I'm coming from ten decades of barbecue all around Houston, Tx. The chilli was very good, though, and spicy.
First time experience on 2/26/22. Desert Oak is popular sells out fast. I've been following them on social media with that I ordered online a day ahead to get what I want. 2 lbs of lean brisket (you get a choice of lean or moist) 2 full racks of spare ribs for a family of 6. And still had leftovers. Desert Oak uses prime meats so the prices are high, but so worth it. What you pay, is what you get. Desert Oak uses Texas style bbq
I try to get to as many Texas BBQ spots as possible. For a Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Spot, the line was VERY reasonable. The wait was quick. Workers were on the spot! Some top 50 places I've been to have not lived up to the hype. Desert Oak has worked hard and deserves their growing reputation. D.O. BBQ: Best BBQ I'm calling this the best BBQ in West Texas. Brisket was moist and perfectly cooked. Pork ribs were the best I've had in TX. Sausage: created in house, was perfectly/evenly seasoned. Flavor was great. Not my go to, but definitely a match to West Texas. Pinto beans were nothing fancy, but very good. Potato salad was great. Joe took me out back and showed me the pits. This man is simply in love with his job and it shows in how he treats his customers.
The BBQ at this restaurant is delicious, even though the location is not very noticeable. We ordered the platter for 2-3 people for our group of 4 and it was more than enough food. The sides were also fantastic. The beers are inexpensive at $3-5 each, but water is not complimentary for some reason. The seating is limited, so be prepared to possibly sit outside or wait for a table.
