Urbane Cafe - El Cajon

Damn covid: I would rather have done the traditional dining at a table, but instead, I did the take-out in a bag and brought it to my hotel room (Hampton Inn across the parking lot) complementing it with an Escondido beer I already bought at 7-Eleven. The posted menu and easy communication with the properly-masked cashier was effective. The cashier talked in the tone as if he was excited to show off the food. Truly outstanding, the properly-masked door-runner Sofia (I guess formerly waitress) had a lot of fun handing out the bags to customers obligatorily waiting outside, including me. Basically, the staff I encountered proved an idea that a restaurant can still deliver dinnertime fun, even though I, like others, miss the relaxed sit-down dining. Thanks to the staff, this take-out experience was a real blast! By the way, the Californian Veggie sandwich was delightfully delicious!???? ...as I look back at this experience months later, this unique fun experience has never been duplicated anywhere else, which I wish it was.

Very tasty chicken sandwiches here. My favorite is the Santa Maria BBQ sandwich. The sandwiches come with a fresh salad on the side which makes for a balanced meal. The employees here are friendly and service is good!

Outstanding healthy food! Seating indoors is somewhat limited, so if its a hot day, you may have to go outside on the nice patio to eat. Fountain drinks are plentiful. I recommend the ahi salad! Yum!

This was the best sandwich(steak blt) I have ever had! I know this is gonna sound weird but I feel healthier after eating it! It was the BEST $10. I EVER SPENT ON TAKE OUT! My babes went in 2 get the food but he said they were polite, good customer service, very clean restaurant, was able 2 get in out quickly! I had 2 call the girls there thank them 4 my delicious meal! I was a chef back in the day can tell u that everything was so perfect even down 2 the amount of ingredients portioning it was PERFECT! THANK U SO MUCH URBAN CAFE OF EL CAJON UR PERFECT!!!

This has quickly become a go to place for me. There are plenty of options and all of them are good. Their trademark is the freshly made ciabatta that all of the sandwiches are made with. They also usually have two or three fresh drink options as well as a craft soda fountain. Each sandwich also comes with a nice house salad with a tangerine slice.
