Amazing experience. Long time that I have been in a place like this. Live original gypsy music playing while eating amazing Hungarian food! Food to notch!!! Home made and it’s made his it needs to be made!!! Excellent experience. FYI I had to log in into my google to leave review, and that is something I wouldn’t do before haha Great great place!! Be back each time I come home for visit!
This is a review of the restaurant, not the hotel, but, unfortunately, Google groups the two under the umbrella of a hotel. This is our favourite restaurant in Eger which is why, whenever we're in Eger, we come for here to eat. The food is great. The atmosphere is great. And, to top it off, the staff are friendly and very accommodating. Our only complaint are the so called tradional Hungarian pickles and salads, but our complaint doesn't just apply to this restaurant but most Hungarian restaurants in general, and even stalls selling what they claim are tradional Hungarian savanyúság (pickles) and salads, such as uborkasaláta (cucumber salad). For whatever reason, Hungarians have started making these pickles and salads incredibly sweet that one would think we are in America. All of these salads are so sugary and sweet they have lost that tradional flavour and freshness they were famous for, and some even use sweeteners, which further ruin the flavours. Oh, and they seem to leave out all the details from these pickles and salads, such as the crushed garlic, peppercorns, caraway seeds, and other herbs and spices. Unfortunately, the same is true with the pickles and salads at this restaurant as well. I hope this, and most Hungarian restaurants, revived the tradional Hungarian flavours and methods of making these otherwise refreshing pickles and salads that make for the perfect accompaniments to the traditional Hungarian foods, such as their pörkölt (stew). One can but hope that this restaurant takes up the challenge.
