Bidrage med feedbackThe food came out quickly after ordering and our server was very friendly. Our favorites were the TNT roll and the Lobster Udon.
The food was excellent and the service was also excellent. This probably is the best sushi in Edmonton.
The food is insanely delicious and always reliably so. The only reason I couldn't give it five stars is because service is iffy most times. But otherwise I definitely return anyways because the food is so authentic and so tasty.
Recommended by many as the 'best place for Japanese food in Edmonton ', Japonais Bistro is a quaint little restaurant tucked away in a quiet corner of Jasper Ave. Warmly lit, the atmosphere is inviting and staff are quite helpful.<br/ <br/ There was a random plumbing mishap when a pipe burst from behind the seafood counter and some customers sitting closeby were sprayed so maybe avoid those tables! Other than that, I will be coming back!<br/ <br/ STARTERS: <br/ Salmon sashimi: fresh and fatty! Definitely worth the $1 per piece you pay on Tuesday Seafood Special night.<br/ Oysters: would not be getting these again. 4 out of the 6 oysters I ordered were satisfactory albeit tiny but two of them were pretty much empty. Not worth, even for the $1 price you pay.<br/ <br/ MAIN:<br/ Lobster udon: the shell may look great for photos but it 's a hollow shell! The lobster flesh is cooked with the noodles. 'Japanese fusion ' is true for most of their dishes but does not accurately describe this one. The only thing Japanese about it was the use of udon noodles that could 've been easily replaced with pasta and there would have been minimal difference in texture or taste.<br/ <br/ DRINKS:<br/ Sake sangria: highly recommend. One of the few places in Edmonton that does sangria properly!
The place definitely doesn't disappoint. The staff was very fast and very friendly. We tried their June specials of the baked mussels and blue fin tuna they were both very fresh and very tasty. We then had the pork belly (my first time), it was extremely dry and I was very unimpressed. The rolls we had were the new roll, the TNT roll, and the cheesy dragon roll. My husband ate the new roll and didn't like it at all, he said the flavors just didn't work. I was very happy and impressed with my two rolls. We will be back obviously on a special occasion just because of how expensive it is!
