Jules Verne Brasserie Francaise Cafe

Absolutely disastrous. We waited more than 1.5 hours and were always put off without compensation. During this time we could see how others left the café again and again for lack of hospitality and that tables were not cleared for long periods of time, so that more guests left the restaurant again. The dishes that came to the other tables were wrong or something was missing. There was no table where everything was right. When the food came to us it was cold and tasteless and lacked the side dishes that were on the menu. A portion was also scraped together from the last supplies and much too small. When asked about this we received a £0.60 discount and a hearty speech from the proprietor. We have never experienced anything like this.

We were impressed by the friendly staff and delicious, down-to-earth food at this restaurant. The breakfast and lunch options provide a wide variety to choose from. Being dairy-free was not a problem at all! We tried the cheesecake brownie, chicken wrap, and avocado egg sourdough toast, and they were all finger-lickin' good!

The service and food was great. We ordered Scottish breakfast, poched eggs and pancake. Loved the retaurant. It was a cute little place perfect for my family.

Group of us staying in edinburgh for a few nights, called in for some cold drinks and man behind counter was great as well as giving great local recommendations for food!!!

We had a wonderful and tasty breakfast before departing Edinburgh. The hospitality, atmosphere, service, friendliness of the staff, and, most importantly, the food, were all fantastic! I will definitely be returning for breakfast next time!
