Bidrage med feedbackI visited the restaurant on Wednesday, March 30th. After a cold and muddy trail run around the Itchen Valley, we went to the cafe for some much-needed refreshments. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the limited food options available to satisfy our hunger. We were expecting a wider selection of hot and cold meals, but the menu only included sandwiches, children's snack meals, vegan toasties, and soup. I decided to try the soup, but was disappointed to find it served in a polystyrene cup instead of a bowl. The restaurant cited Covid restrictions as the reason for not using crockery, but I believe that most restaurants have adapted to using proper plates and there is no reason why a small cafe couldn't do the same. Overall, it was a disappointing visit and one that I do not plan on repeating.
We visited this restaurant for a coffee after completing a parkrun. The building was charming and they had a good variety of options to choose from. However, the staff seemed to have received training from the Basil Fawlty school of customer service. When we ordered a tea cake that was clearly advertised on a sign, they seemed quite displeased by our choice, almost to the point of being comedic.
Great cafe and super friendly staff, our granddaughter accidentally spilled her hot chocolate, no fuss was made, the floor cleared up, my granddaughter was upset but the lady clearing the floor was lovely and even offered another hot chocolate, really family friendly. Good coffee too, definitely worth a visit.
Nice for a treat or as a rest from walking. Surprising good coffee and wonderful cakes. A welcoming space and service for visitor to the park
The restaurant offers lovely woodland walks and play equipment suitable for all ages. Parking is reasonably priced. The cafe is convenient and offers gluten-free options. However, I was disappointed when I ordered soup and asked if it was gluten-free, only to find that it came with a non-gluten-free bread roll. I was told by the server that it was not their fault because I didn't specifically ask about the bread roll. They do have gluten-free bread available in the freezer, but I was informed that it would take too long to prepare. An apology and a reminder to specify gluten-free options for the whole meal when ordering would have sufficed.
