Senoji Japanese Restaurant

Interesting to read the mixed reviews here. I've been here 4 times, and have had an amazing experience every time, barring once where the sushi I ordered seemed to have been thawed out rather than made fresh. That's why my rating is 4 star. <br/ <br/ The sake/drinks menu is extensive, (Try the plum wine! there are lots of unique items on the food menu, and the service is super attentive. Recommended.<br/ <br/ <br/ Edit: I went back here on the 18/6/19 and everything was frigging perfect. I enclose a collage of what we had. This included Wagyu tataki, Kimchee Tofu, Karage chicken, a Chef's assortment of sashimi, and Scallops seared in butter. The Kimchee Tofu was the stand-out. Simply the best kimchee I've ever had. I just upgraded my rating. :

It's a good place catch up with friends. Good environment, everything go slowly, like tapas style Japanese. Can eat slowly, chit chat, no need rush. I like it. A lot choices from sake and Japanese beers. Very authentic. The Agedashi Eggplant and the grill Beef Tongue are must try! It's was so yum! Will definitely come back again.

The food was very good but took forever to come to the table. The service was also a bit lacking, like the atmosphere. I don't think I will rush back.

Great personalized service by the owner. It is run by a family. The sashimi is very fresh and miso soup was not at all filled with MSG. Ramen was smooth and lovely. I had the pork loin bento set. We were initially apprehensive that the location was quite quiet but the food is worth coming down.

Very authentic Japanase restaurant in Victoria Park! Good quality and good value too considering how fresh the food was! The service was friendly and efficient!
