Bidrage med feedbackExcellent and creative dishes that are uniquely prepared and delicious. I found all the dishes very good, great service and a stunning setting right in a garden.
The service was quite slow (the place was not busy there were lots of empty tables) and the waitress did not come to our table very often and we had to wait even for our bill. The advertised quiche feature was not even available. My friend and I each ordered a croissant (Hot Crab croissant was $24.00, Ham Brie croissant was $22.00, Rose lemonade $7 and Orange soda $5.50) that came with a side of fries. The croissants were over toasted and the fries were burnt. When my friend cut her croissant in half, the crust shattered and the majority of what was left on her plate was crumbs. When the waitress came to see if we were enjoying our food, I told her that the flavour of the filling of the croissant was good, but that the fries were burnt (some were almost black). She looked at them and said, Yes, the cook should not have put those out. If she could easily see that, I wonder why she even brought them to our table? She immediately offered to bring new fries, but by this time we had already finished our croissants and were ready to leave (maybe if she had come at the beginning of the meal instead of the end). Also, they appear to be rationing their ketchup (you certainly don 't get enough of it for all the fries) and there was no salt and pepper at the table. Total of our dining experience was $61.68 (including tax) plus a tip on top of that. We chose to leave 10% regardless of the fact that the meal and service was not worth that. I do not recommend this place at all. I expected better from a restaurant that serves so many tourists that visit VanDusen Botanical Gardens. Very disappointing to say the least. We will not be back to eat there.
A dinner meeting of about 30 people at the restaurant in the beautiful surroundings of van Dusen Gardens turned out to be a great event because: Service of pre dinner drinks perfect ! Whiskey Sour one of the best, I ever had, good selection of reasonably priced bubbly and wine by the glass. Dinner service impeccable with a wonderful salad as starter, a perfectly cooked steak and very god lemon tart for dessert. The waiters servers super nice and efficient. The spacious interior with beautiful west coast design providing very nice ambience.
We are not from Vancouver and drove in to see the VanDusen gardens and wanted a lunch meal. We had reservations and Milan was very cordial, helpful and could give us a table at the garden patio even a little later. Thanks Milan! I think the restaurant could have more seating outside with a view of the gardens also. We got our drinks very fast from Francis and a nice girl brought us some menus. We chose Croissant (ham Brie) (could of been just little more in the bun and fries, the pasta with noodles(good helping) All the food served tasted very good, but pasta just warm. We ordered drinks as we like the Bee-e made by them with a certain flower. This time too sour, not like we previously experienced. This drink was taken off our bill and we choose some other drinks thankyou! Francis is a vey good experienced waiter and we enjoyed his quick service, friendly attitude and suggestion in the menu. We were not hurried and Francis came and checked a few times how we were doing, much appreciated. Yes we will come again. Longbeach.
My friend and I went for lunch after a stroll through the lovely gardens. We each had a croissant her the ham and Brie, and me the crab and shrimp. Both were burned a very dark colour and my crab and shrimp filling was virtually non existent. The seafood might have been from a can and there was very little of it spread over the croissant. The accompanying fries weren’t even good. The service was fine. When speaking with a friend yesterday about this she advised me she had the same experience a couple of weeks before. Little to no crab or shrimp and the croissant was burned. It’s unacceptable that the onus is on the customer to raise the issue making what should be a comfortable and enjoyable experience an awkward one.
