THE place for a peameal bacon sandwich. Sometimes less is more: just a crusty bun and heaping slices of well-cooked peameal bacon. Should be tried at least once as a quintessential TO experience.

Making a quick stop in Downtown Toronto during our long layover, we got off Union Station from the UP Express Train and then walked over to St. Lawrence Market. Carousel Bakery is known as the home of the award-winning “World Famous Peameal Bacon Sand­wich. Last time in Toronto, I wasn’t able to get this. They have been at the market for over 30 years and line ups can always be seen on weekends and the weekday lunch rush.

Chances are you won't starve if you're in St Lawrence market because the food selection is amazing. Saturday mornings are the best here. The world famous pea meal bacon sandwich comes from here and is definitely a Toronto must have.<br/ <br/ The lines are big but move pretty fast. The sandwich is filling and if you cut in half and share then you're going to be full regardless<br/ <br/ This is a must have and every Toronto native will tell you that.

I know peameal bacon sandwiches are all the rage in Toronto, but anything with egg and cheese automatically wins for me. All other options become invisible. Lines are long at this place, but they move very quickly as they have several workers behind the counter taking multiple orders. It’s also pretty difficult to find a seat anywhere on a Saturday morning, but the great thing about the sandwich is that you can walk around eating it, all while having hungry onlookers stare at your sandwich like it’s Kate Upton in your hand.
