Bidrage med feedbackReserved at Co-Op for my wife's birthday yesterday and could not fault it. Everything was perfect, with the beautiful and tasty dishes and all the little touches (birthday candle...) combined to make it an evening to remember. I highly recommend it
We went here for my birthday on the basis of ratings on this site. Just to calibrate our standard, we have dined at Rockpool and Wildflower recently and this place in no way even approaches these two icons, yet would present itself as similar. We had the 10 course degustation menu with wine matching. None of the dishes had any wow factor, even the presentation was bland. Flavours and ingredients within each dish were poor and often seemed mis-matched. We usually leave a fine dining experience (and sometimes a lower level one) with a sense that we would sell our souls to cook and serve some of the dishes experienced to our friends.. in this case we were served nothing we would consider as such.
One of the best degustations I've ever had. Enjoyed every course but particularly the artichoke/ox tongue/congee dish, and the pork with garum. The desserts were both oustanding as well, with the black olive licorice and the yoghurt sorbet the highlights.Service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The only small criticism I could make is that the wait time between some of the courses was a bit long.
The dining room looks a little plain and bare and never seems crowded.Only a 5 course or 10 course menu is offered and their is no menu. The kitchen takes whatever fresh produce they can find and turns out a different menu each night. I've been a few times and there are one or two dishes that are similar each time but most of the rest changes around. The produce used seems of an excellent quality and shines through in the dishes which are presented pleasantly.Eric is the sommelier, maitre'd and head waiter all in one and does a great job of running the floor. Each dish is presented and explained clearly with the accompanying wine if ordered.I would rate this restaurant just slightly below the top notch Perth restaurants but still very good particularly in its promotion of local, fresh produce.
When we first walked in we where the only ones in the restaurant not a good sign. However the service and food was very good. Not everyone's taste are the same so amongst the four of us our comments varied. I thought some of the dishes had been over done with the coatings and you could not taste the food as it was meant. Especially the pork. The lamb was almost raw which was disappointing as it was very tough to eat. However overall a very nice meal. Expensive with drinks our bill was nearly 900 dollars as the drinks are also expensive but good for a special occasion. Would I go back yes but not for a while, unless someone else was paying.
