Steak N Shake - East Peoria

Not the idea behind the ground for a photo, but the food was exceptional and very fast and friendly service. I traveled the country for work, and I have to say that was the best steak n shake I found so far. The bacon was on the side. Was a great sandwich.

Place had only 2 workers so that food could come for a while, but that's not their fault. They were very fast to the lack of other workers and had a good system down. They made sure everyone was in the store. Eating was also amazing, screaming out to the two employees, the names I unfortunately did not get.

Burger was great and quickly came out; but the Shaker lasted 25 minutes. I am not sure how there is a long waiting time for the shake when there is only one other person in the dining area and no one in the drive thru.

I went to the dining room as it was reopened and it is basically a glorified cafeteria now. You give your order in a kiosk and wait until they call your name to pick it up on a tray. The food is still decent, but pretty much everything I loved about it is gone. Even the spice salt, unless you want to buy a whole bottle. I'd like to see the personality coming back. All they have now is disposable dishes and spice packages.

I love Steak n Shake. Today was the first time I thought about not going back! I got the Frisco melt and chili mac. There is no server, you order at a kiosk, pay at the time of ordering and wait to have your name called. Waited for 25 min for food, there were four tables besides us. Most of which already had their food. The frisco melt was good, but the chili mac was cold, like right out of the fridge cold. We went up to the counter to ask for silverware, and waited and waited and did I forget to say waited. They finally asked what we wanted , we told them and lo and behold we once again waited and waited before we finally got silverware. The people acted like they we doing us a favor setting our food on the counter and calling our name. Part of a server's job is taking an order and bringing it to the table. I'm not getting paid to do part of their job!!!!! So needless to say, I won't be going back. I rate them a LOW 2 stars and will not recommend it to family and friends.
