Today was my second visit to this little Colombian restaurant. It was early and only ordered an arepa con queso and a 'house ' coffee. All was well until the little German pests crawled across the floor. The woman sitting by the corner where the bugs scattered to called the waitress and pointed them out. The waitress grab a couple napkins, scooped them up with her hand, and went about her business. I had only two bites left of my arepa. I couldn 't finish. Asked for a refill on my coffee to calm down and not cause a scene. Turns out, they charge $3.99 for each and every cup of coffee. This was my second and last visit to La Tiendita.
This was a great whole in the wall Colombian restaurant. We are Colombian and we're very excited to try this place. We ordered several items on the menu and all were delicious! They even have a small grocery store with frozen premade food such as arepas, tamales and empeñadas. We loaded up and took some home. I was barely able to fit everything in the freezer. It's a hit far in Mesa but worth the trip. We will make this a monthly visit to get our fix.
Western Union service was down and no one picked up the phone when I tried calling ahead of time so I wouldn't waste time driving there. Wasted trip and gas going there and waiting in line only to find out their Western Union service wasn't working. Wonderful
Well lets just say the food has no flavor, it is easy to tell that either the cook its not Colombian or the cook has lost its passion for cooking Colombian food. The bandeja paisa was served without avocado and the beans were just bland in taste. The encebollado, same thing very very bland. I think what threw me off the most was the terrible smell around the ENTIRE restaurant of mold!!! Super bad smell. I think they have a big issue with the bathrooms.
