By offering an extra item on maenu eg steak-frite or even Scottish Steak pie the variety would have been much enhanced and vastly improved ourv experience..

The staff food were quite wonderful when we visited for a family birthday celebration. The staff went out of their way to make everyone in the party feel comfortable relaxed ensured the meal was enjoyable for all. The food was delicious particularly the desserts and presentation was superb. Thanks so much to the staff they really make the place!

Greywalls is consistently brilliant. We have held special family celebration meals here for the last 17 years since we moved to East Lothian. Today we had a great Roux Express Lunch, exquisite wine, outstanding service from David and finished with a walk in the delightful Gertrude Jekyll-designed gardens. Thanks also to Surajit for his assistance with our booking.

We booked reservations weeks ago for lunch at Greywalls it was meant to be a special birthday celebration and we looked forward to it immensely. This is supposedly a top establishment, that promotes itself as a luxury destination with first class service and food. All I can say is HA! We contacted them before leaving Edinburgh to ask a question and learned totally by accident that they canceled our reservation. No one had bothered to tell us although they said 'they were just about to call. ' We 'd taken a day 's leave from work to make the trip and enjoy the special day and were left without anything to do for this birthday event. The manager seemed completely unfazed and offered no help whatsoever not what you 'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Just a warning to anyone thinking of making the trip there 's a good chance your booking will not be honoured and you won 't even be told that it 's cancelled! I 've been treated better at the local pub.

We dropped in at Greywalls on a sunny Saturday lunchtime for a light lunch and to enjoy the gardens. We opted for the pasta of the day, which was penne in blue cheese sauce with broccoli. It was a simple dish superbly cooked, whilst the service was impeccable; very efficient and friendly without being stuffy. We took the opportunity to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful gardens. All in all an exquisite lunchtime.
