It's that time of year again when the weather is cool, windy, and wet, so BBQ plans are on hold. A trip to The Grange is in order. I can't find any faults with this place. Everything is clean and tidy, the dining room looks great, and the staff are good. The garden is huge and perfect for families. I ordered the steak pie with vegetables and chips, and it was very good and piping hot. A few days later, I returned and had the shepherd's pie, which was also excellent. This place may not look like much from the outside, but do yourself a favor and give it a try!
I decided not to cook and had no trouble choosing where to go - The Grange! Once again, the restaurant was clean and tidy as I entered. I was attended to by a friendly young lady who took my order. I started with garlic mushrooms, which arrived promptly and were too hot to eat right away. They were delicious and a nice change of pace. For my main course, I had the shepherd's pie, which was enough for two days and also very hot. The meal was homemade, flavorful, and well-presented. I couldn't finish it all and even had to take some home for my dog. The dish included carrots, peas, green beans, and chips - a satisfying combination. However, I had to borrow cutlery when my main course arrived and noticed that the dining chairs needed cleaning where the slats met the seat. These minor issues caused me to deduct a star from my rating. On a positive note, I appreciated having salt and pepper pots on the table instead of sachets. My only other complaint was that there were too many chips and gravy was poured over them instead of being served on the side. The total cost of the meal was £10.20, which I found to be excellent value for the quality of the food.
Just had a week at Chapel St Leonards, called in at the Grange for lunchtime meal. Sunday Lunch was just yummee. Well cooked and served. After such a lovely Sunday lunch decided to call in twice more during the week to try the lunchtimes special, again lovely meals well cooked and served. Would certainly rcommend for good food at great prices.
Really nice friendly and welcoming pub/restaurant well worth a visit. Extensive menu, well prepared and very keenly priced. We enjoyed the lunchtime special scampi £4.75) and the 1/2 lb mammoth burger £3.95). Our dog was made welcome too. We hope to return for their steak and wine for 2 specials.
