Bidrage med feedbackWent recently as a party of 5, including 2 grandchildren because this place is open all day and is dog friendly. It was a dssa[ointment to say the least. Thre of us had a Cheeseburger. The Burger was small, dry and was obviously not home made, or even made by a local butcher, and was topped with a cold, orange slice of catering pack cheese. The chiops were very good, but as usual there was enough on each plate to feed 3 people, with the assumption that if the plate is loaded, then you have had a good meal . Not true. It is just a waste of food! The giant Onion Rings were saturated with grease, and the only good thing about the meal, apart from the chips was the Coleslaw. The most annoying aspect of the meal, however, was the gentleman who was either staff or family, sat at the end of the bar, adjacent to our table, and spent the whole meal time listening in to our family conversation and butting in with comments of his own! Drinks only one bitter on tap and that was keggy John Smiths. Poor choice. Will not be returning! Will not be returning.
Myself my partner called here for a Sunday dinner last weekend.. It was totally by chance when looking for a place to eat while passing by this area.. On arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner by the owners daughter, then the owner. After ordering food we were soon presented with our meals... We both ordered a roast beef dinner, though there were options of lamb pork. The beef was of a high quality, lean tasty.. The accompanying vegetables were fresh cooked perfectly.. Also a boat of 'proper gravy '. My partner couldn 't find room for a pudding, though she did 'help me out ' in eating a very tasty home made orange sponge with custard that had been recommended to me by the waitress... All in all the friendly pub staff hearty home cooked food will find us eating with the Anchor again... So pleased we didn 't pass by
Been a few time for meals here always fabulous food ..just had Sunday roast absolutely fantastic staff are great friendly always try to please .if you haven't been go.... you will not be disappointed
We stayed here overnight while traveling around. This is not a top of the range pub. It has the lived in look about it. But it also has a friendly atmosphere , with kids toys around, a large outdoor covered seated area(settees). You should look at this as an extension of the owners living area. The food is very tasty, typical range found in most pubs. The ale was tasty and reasonably priced all round. Would we visit and eat here again? Yes, if we are passing again.
Homemade food is delicious, staff are friendly, and lovely to see it being used by locals and visitors
