Bidrage med feedbackSecond time I've been here, the gifts etc are nice however the food is not great. I got a few scones which on further inspection were clearly frozen and defrosted. They instantly fell apart on trying to put butter on them and we were left...with a pile of dry crumble. Two coffee's and two scones for a tenner. Last money I will spend here.
We were greeted by the friendly Melissa who took our contact information. She seated us at our table and gave us menus. We had a fantastic afternoon tea with superb food quality and presentation. The restaurant has taken great precautions against Covid-19, with screens and arrows throughout. All staff are clearly marked. Make sure to visit after lockdown; you won't be disappointed. We will definitely be returning.
I recently visited the cafe for the first time since before lockdown. They have implemented a one-way system for entering and exiting the cafe, as well as having screens in place. The coffee and scone were just as delicious as before, although the menu is slightly more limited compared to pre-lockdown. They still have plenty of breakfast options and cakes available. I recommend giving it a try, you won't be disappointed.
I had a negative experience last time I visited the cafe, but decided to give it another chance today. My sausage roll was good, but when I ordered apple tart for my wife, I noticed that half of the crust was burnt. I asked for a non-burnt piece, but unfortunately received another burnt one. After requesting a replacement, I was told that the burnt part was the best. They did eventually change it, but I found it odd to serve cold apple tart with hot custard. Overall, I don't think I will be returning to this restaurant.
On the face of it Cumnock does not have a lot to offer. There are a few shops the biggest being ot the south side of the town the factory outlet) Its got a swimming pool and gym visions) a few cafes and...many take away shops. Theres also a museum The Baird) Theres an active history group who have created a guided walk leaflets available) Its in walking distance of Dumfries Estate, driving distance to Auchinleck Estate and has easy access to the countryside. The River Ayr walk passes through. There are a couple of hotels in the centre and a few pubs if you want to stay.
