The Griffon Gastropub - EAST AURORA

Atmosphere was fine. A little loud in the dining area for 7pm on a Saturday. Food was good drinks priced right and the waitress was on point. Only complaints is the size of the appetizers for the price you pay.

Our hostess picked up Menus and walked away with no conversation or instructions.. When we started to follow she said wait here I have to talk to someone Maybe 5 tables dining in the whole restaurant but it took about 15 minutes for our waitress to arrive The waitress put our order on someone else 's ' tab then we had to start over with ordering. I asked for no balsamic reduction and just olive oil and vinegar for my medium steak BLACK AND BLUE SALAD (can 't eat the sugar)Got well done steak, balsamic reduction drizzled on the whole thing and something that was supposed to be vinegar on the side but it looked like broth. Sons burger was past well done after ordering medium. Grandsons drink came 15 minutes after the rest of us got ours No call back until time for the check... when I told her that my medium steak was well done she said well it 's strips so it cooks faster . I said that you don 't cook it as long and she sort of shrugged it off with a sorry . I am surprised because the other locations are excellent!

Burgers and tenders were delicious! Sweet potato fries are a must!! Salad was just ok. Super cool atmosphere fantastic bar!

Last time I ate there was December 2021, eighteen months ago. I was up all night with stomach distress. This is our first return to that restaurant since that event, so I made certain to order something different as far as my fish entree. Eighteen months ago, at least I I enjoyed the food! Yesterday, 6/16/23, approximately 1:45 pm, it was cold soggy french fries, covered with an excess of salt. The fish had a cracker/garlic coating, but it was mainly ... salt. The cheese garlic roll was too salty. There was a plastic container of cole slaw which surprisingly as the only food included that was not salty. We are finally writing this restaurant off completely.

Food, service, ambience: all great. Reservation for party of 5 adults, at 6:30pm on a Wednesday, probably not necessary- it was pretty empty when we arrived. We were celebrating a birthday, which was information provided when the reservation was made- the host wished my daughter a happy birthday when we checked in, and then when we finished dinner, our server surprised her with a birthday dessert- it was very special. A truly huge beer/cider/drink selection. Tip: order your tap choice by number, otherwise the server will have to search for it. I cannot stress this enough: The food is so good. I took half of my meal home, and my reheated leftovers were still delicious (chicken caprese. 2 of us had been to another location previously, for the other 3 it was their first time, and they all plan to go back soon. A tiny caution, definitely not enough to take a star away, and it resolves itself with a little patience: We were seated in a location that half the table had the sun blinding them, there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it. Just wear your sunglasses, duck, and wait it out. It was fine after about 30 minutes, and the sun moved a bit lower in the sky.
