Bidrage med feedbackIf they are not from Texas, there is a good chance that they like this bbq. the meat is delicate, the setting is perfect juicy, and the staff was great. the BBQ sauce almost tasted as if it were a mistake and was the biggest disappointment. the flesh tasted as if it were smoked with only charcoal, because I did not decrypt and wood in the taste. I'll come back to see if they had only one day off.
You can easily spot this place with a stack of oak outside and several smokers near the open bay doors. The aroma from the seasoned hardwood in the large iron barrels is heavenly for barbecue enthusiasts like me. The meats are smoked to perfection—never dry and absolutely flavorful. The brisket boasts a beautifully seasoned crust, and the sausages are juicy and delicious. I chose the beans and a coleslaw salad as my sides, and both were delightful. I’m really glad we decided to stop here after Austin's in Eagle Lake on our way from Houston to San Antonio. The old Highway 90 is dotted with several barbecue joints, making a trip through this area a fantastic opportunity to stock up on a bounty of smoked delicacies for later enjoyment.
During my time in the Marine Corps, I traveled the entire world, sampling various meals in different countries. There was a moment when I became so immersed in the memories of Mr. Austin’s sausages that I found myself in tears, but, unfortunately, the taste didn't quite live up to my expectations—it was more of a nightmare than what I had hoped for. After 32 years in my beloved Corps, I'm planning to make a trip from California soon to visit Austin's again. I really miss the taste of their delicious BBQ. I'm looking forward to seeing Dwayne and Denise again while they are still running this amazing BBQ restaurant.
The dining area is casual and budget-friendly; however, on rainy days, it’s probably best to eat in your car if you’re not close by. The homemade potato salad and cornbread are fantastic, though I found their grilling sauce to be a bit too ketchupy for my liking, and their brisket isn’t their strong suit. I’ve heard they have their own goats and occasionally serve cabrito, but I haven’t had the chance to try it yet.
