Dunalley Fish Market

After reading mixed reviews, including a recommendation at a tourism conference, I decided to try this fish and chips restaurant. Despite the charming old building and casual atmosphere, the service was mediocre. The fish and chips were wrapped in old newspaper, which made me question the hygiene standards. The squid was plentiful, leaving little room for chips, which were thin but well-cooked. Unfortunately, the fish was a disappointment. The pieces were small and cooked in a strange-tasting oil with black specks. Overall, I found the quality to be lacking compared to other places in town, such as a service station or a slightly more expensive pub. My experience did not live up to the hype, and I regret trying this establishment.

I heard great things about this place so I thought it was worth the drive. Sadly I was dissapointed by the entire experience....For starters walking into the place I was greeted by a cloud of dust and cobwebs, that should have been my first sign. Then there was only 1 thing on the menu a seafood basket which consisted of the fresh catch and calamari, knowing this I actually got excited for my lunch because the less they have the better is must be, right?? WRONG! Ours came out probably 30-40 minutes after we ordered and after unwrapping it I knew immediately I was about to be disgusted. Let me start with the chips they were dry.You know that stick to the top of your mouth horrible taste you get from eating a dry chip? Then the fish was crumbed and in scabby little bit and way way way over cooked it was border line rubber, but I kept on going last but not least the calamari that again was rubbery over cooked and dry the only saving grace for the entire meal was the wedge of lemon that I squeezed all over because there was no way I was going to use the packaged tarte they have up for grabs. Overall it wasn't worth the stop and never again will I be stopping and "the best fish and chips"......

Great fresh produce! Can't beat it for quality seafood at an affordable price! Great location! Very busy with satisfied customers...always a great sign of a quality business and service. We will definitely be returning!

We waited an hour for fish and chips for a couple. There were a few pieces of fish bits and the calamarie overcooked. Definately not a 2 person serving.

I have yet to find a place that sells better fish and chips than this one. Portions are huge for the price you pay and the fish is lightly battered, the actual fish portions are a lot. And it also comes with lightly crumbed calamari which are also good.For $10/person and $15 for 2 pax, this place is a **** steal.
