Bidrage med feedbackWe had an amazing experience at this restaurant with delicious curries and a lovely family. During the Covid 19 lockdown, we ate here almost every day for 2 months. We really enjoyed the vegetarian options, especially knowing that everything was vegan. The Nan Bread was also fantastic. Our usual orders were Navaratma Korma and Channa Masala, and the family was very accommodating in making them vegan and less oily for us. The prices were incredibly reasonable at 1.5€ (15000 kip) for a curry. The atmosphere is not as upscale as other Indian restaurants, but the food more than makes up for it. A special tip: buy a cabbage from the store down the street, cut it up, and use the Nan Bread as a wrap for a delicious meal with curry, cabbage, pickled onions, and maybe some rice. It's a must-try! Thank you to the family for a wonderful dining experience.
We ordered green pea masala and chana masala with rice. The peas were too dry. This was not the best Indian food we have had! We tried another restaurant on Don Det and it was amazing! We would not recommend this place.
This restaurant on the island served the best food we had during our stay, although it was a bit pricey. The family that runs the restaurant is very friendly, and we found ourselves coming back multiple times during our 3-week trip. They were very knowledgeable about vegan food, and the young man who usually took our orders was especially helpful. The curries were delicious and came out quickly. We especially enjoyed the Chana masala and "paneer" korma with tofu. Each herbal curry was 15,000 kip, plus 5,000 for steamed rice. The curries were very flavorful and saucy, and we enjoyed them with chapati. The restaurant also had great exchange rates, with 8800 kip per US$1.
The Tali is small, food is okay, but not so delicious.
I got to Don Det around lunchtime and actually intended to go to the vegan restaurant on the island. Unfortunately they didn't serve food that day (or any other upcoming day? . So after eating at Jasmine in Pakse I decided to head back to the one on Don Det. The food and service in Pakse was a bit disappointing so it really took me by surprise to be welcomed by the lovely Indian family who runs this branch, they were fully aware of veganism, explained everything to me and the food in this restaurant was outstanding. Yes it is a bit more expensive than in Pakse but worth every kip! I had chapati, dosa, chickea and pea massala, jalfrezi, potato curry, naan etc (yes I ate there for almost every meal and hands down everything was delicious. They open at 6:30AM so perfect for breakfast as well if you're heading off to the kayak tour or have a boat to catch somewhere. I would love to give 6 stars but am only able to give 4. Definitely go to this restaurant if you're on Don Det and in need for some tasty vegan food!
