Henry J's Taco House - Des Moines

Henry J’s was so darn good! We were in Des Moines for the State Track and Field Meet, and I always try to find Mexican food (and chocolate! Lol! wherever I am, and Henry J’s did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious tacos with deep fried shells-just the best! Beans and rice were great also! My eight year, who had chosen McDonald’s (yuck! over tacos, decided my food looked good and helped me finish it off and said it was great!

Great food and very nice staff. The food is made fresh at time of order, not pre made frozen then fried like other places. Awesome price. Filling taco dinner for just over 5 bucks. The funnel cake fries are yummy too.

Favorite spot for Tacos!! Love it!! Have been going here since I was little, introduced my daughter and it's our favorite spot in Iowa for Tacos!! Way better prices than Tasty Tacos and better tasting. Also love the rice!!

Grew up in Omaha and every visit to our Des Moines family included a stop here. Moved here in 1995 after HS and to this day they are the best tacos I have ever had. Period.

Almost missed the place, I love it . Simple, but done right. Rice and Fideo where the sides I tried and they where good. Tacos where good as well, I like how they mixed the refried beans with the meat. Great on a busy night when you have no dinner plans.
