Desi Tawa - Derby

One of the best desi style restaurant and one thing I would like to say people just because this restaurant is popular and busy and without alcohol meaning pure halal stop writing false reviews allah is looking at you and u can’t stop this restaurant business only allah can so grow up

I visited here with a couple of my friends some time ago and have only just got round to doing my review. My friends and I visited when the resteraunt was empty so we were showed to our table and service was nice and quick. When visiting Desi Tawa I ordered a Tawa 2 For Three To Four People, which consists Of Lamb Karahi, Chicken Karahi, Chicken Tikka, Galafi Sheekh Kebabs, Masala Fish, Veg Pakoras Nan Bread Tandoori Roti served woth salad and sauce. The food was nice but nothing too special to be honest, I have eaten at many desi/authentic food places for Asian/Pakistani food and this one didn't blow me away. The whole experience was nice and good for a social gathering between friends as it's nice to all have a big Tawa I'm the middle to help yourselves off and the food was a reasonable amount, the £40 price I did think was a bit steep as it's nothing too grand really but overall for the area and the fact there's a lot of curry houses around there it's an acceptable price for the portion. The interior of the resteraunt is dine very nice and staff were reasonably friendly. I enjoy eating my food woth a water so I don't bloat myself too much and so all my food tastes nice and sits well but one thing I will add is fizzy pop is expensive here. Overall a reasonable experience and woth a few tweaks could be seriously good, has to improve a bit though.

Went here with my partner, the food and service was flawless. Chilli fish starter is definitely a must try. All the food was tasty with a good level of spice (which they can easily change for you if you dont like food too spicy) and all authentic. The owner was incredibly welcoming and we could tell he had such pride for his restaurant. We will definitely be going again!

Amazing food amazing ambiance and amazing prices. Best Pakistani food in the UK as far as I've tried! Keep it guys and hope you can maintain the standard!

It’s our first time in Derby and having read the TripAdvisor reviews we decided to check this place out (there are some negative reviews but they ALL relate to the same incident/occasion). Greeted with a warm welcome with good social distancing in place along with Track Trace measures. The food came out quickly and was exactly what we needed after a long day travelling and exploring the Peak District.... prompt/tasty/hot/filling. The staff were attentive and quick and the food was reasonably priced. Recommended.
