Blue Anchor British Pub - Delray Beach

Great place. Being half Irish, the food is excellent English/Irish fare. The servers are wonderful and it's seems that only the local know about this pub so you don't have to deal with the demanding tourists. The appetizers are to die for .

I’ve come here several times previously and have had a good time and pleasant interaction with the staff. Then came today for the euro cup final. Place was packed which was to be expected. However it appeared understaffed with 3 bartenders and 1-2 food runners for probably 300 guests. They could have hung an “at capacity “ sign or hired a bouncer to maintain a count or even had Mark the owner post near the door and turn folks away due to overcrowding. Instead, Mark, for some reason wearing a fishing shirt while his employees wore appropriate service clothing, meandered through the bar yelling at customers, cursing at them, and squaring off with a few. He was easily the most disruptive singular person there. When he mozied on behind the bar he didn’t deign to help the clearly overwhelmed bartenders but instead gave more attitude to customers attempting to get service there. It was almost cinematic in how huge a train wreck the conduct was. It was a masterclass of terrible management. I hope they sort it out as the staff has always been good and space is unique.

I had high hopes for this place as I love British pubs. This is not a British Pub. All the workers are American. I went in for a drink with some friends and the bartender was extremely weird to us. He said my credit card declined as a joke. None of us found it funny. I still left a tip after this and the bartender then complained about the tip in front of us. I regret leaving any tip now. Bartender ruined our experience and the drinks were pretty bad.

This place is pretty cool. If you want a British Pub with a authentic feel, this is your spot. Stop in for a few drinks before you hit the beach, or hang out and watch some soccer (sorry, football) on the tele. The staff is friendly, and all your favorite English beers are available.

Classic place, one of my favorite spots in Delray. Always great and friendly service.
