Kitchen 1540 - DEL MAR

Kitchen 1540 is an exquisite culinary experience. The food is fresh, usually locally and incredibly well prepared. The room is also great. The service was well done, attentive, without being pushed.

Wow. Ate a late lunch here and it was spectacular. Had a simple cheeseburger that curled my toes. The breads hear are amazing.

I had dinner with my family and ordered the cavatelli beef. Unfortunately, the pasta was not fully cooked. Surprisingly, the children's menu ended up being better than our adult meals.

We were given only 35 minutes to enjoy our meal after our 4 PM reservation, and we had to wait again after receiving our food. We even had to bring our own bread and butter to the table. Additionally, the gas-lamp centerpieces looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a month. If the food had been exceptional, some of these issues might have been easier to overlook. However, the holiday menu offered only four options that could have been much better in terms of taste and preparation speed. If the management of the hotel is as poor as that of this restaurant, it doesn’t bode well for its future!

Looking for a nice spot to have a business lunch while enjoying views of the Pacific Ocean? She is the place to be in Del Mar. The seafood here is truly exceptional, not just typical tourist fare. One of the perks of dining here is the ability to relax in the park for free. The bar offers Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin for beer lovers, but the standout dish for me was the Squash Blossom Mol Tacos—absolutely delightful! I could savor those all day long. If you're in the mood for something heartier, they also serve a vegan mushroom cake that is satisfying even without cheese. The fries are tasty, the salads are decent, and the service is impeccable. Plus, you have the flexibility to sit anywhere on the terrace, and they will provide a screen for shade as needed. Overall, dining here makes you feel indulgent, easily deserving of a five-star rating. I'm definitely planning to return!
