Papa's American Diner - Darwen

Was looking for a diner style restaurant as infamous was full in Manchester. Took a little drive to these guys and wow was it worth it. Gave us free trial dishes and while forgetting my burger made up for it when it arrived. A serious meal! You have to go

Fantastic food and always great, friendly service. The chicken strips and dirty fries are a must.

On arrival we were met by a rude gentleman and was told they weren’t serving anymore food other than take away. A female waitress came over and said it would be okay just to sit down and we could still order food. After placing our order the chef was huffing and puffing although they were still open for another hour. We felt very intimidated on this occasion and think a change of attitude from the guy that welcomed us (or didn’t in this instance) we would of had a complete different experience.

The restaurant welcomed us warmly with friendly conversation, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. The service was quick, and the food was incredible with generous portions at great value. Although the size of the restaurant was small, it created an intimate atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place to others and would rate it more than 5 stars if possible.

The staff are very friendly, not only with customers but with each other. They were more than happy to help and even had suggestions for us. The food was excellent, it's not the cheapest but the ingredients were very high quality and cooked to perfection as well as having flavour combinations that not only worked beautifully together but were unlike any others I've tasted. My husband and I only get out once a year usually on our own without the kids and were both very glad we came here! They have a fantastic selection of food and drink with something for everyone. Five stars from us! We may even risk bringing our devilish children ;
