I had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant! I sat outside on the terrace overlooking the village square and enjoyed watching the evening activities. My meal started with a delicious smoked salmon salad, beautifully presented with a maple vinaigrette, rocket, and capers. The main course was turbot en Papillote with peppers, capers, dill, and pickled onions, served with Turnip Risotto and purple cabbage. Everything was perfectly balanced and flavorful. For dessert, I had a fluffy cheesecake with fresh berries on top, not too sweet and just right. The service was friendly and attentive, and I appreciated that the chef came out to present each dish. The Table-d'Hôte menu is available on Fridays and Saturdays, while the rest of the week they offer Bistro prices.
On our walk around the city a hot drink in the middle of the night. We had a very pleasant server and she spoke both French and English easily. We ordered a coffee and hot chocolate. The coffee was typical “restaurant coffee” but I was never offered a... refill. The hot chocolate was made with water and not heated milk. Therefore, the average rating. It was just an average experience. Fun old building atmosphere and so much potential to play a little more.
There was another foursome, we all ordered amazingly simple and light dinner quiche, salad, soup, etc. and it took FOREVER. I'm for 'slow food', but that was brutal, especially if you have kids who have to come to bed soon... after a long day. Would try again, but with some hesitation.
Located in the town square of Danville, this charming little restaurant offers a unique and delicious dining experience unlike any other in town. Its peaceful location allows for a quieter atmosphere, and guests are even welcome to bring their own wine to enjoy with their meal.
