Bidrage med feedbackThe restaurant formerly known as The Unicorn is now called The Magic Wok and is under new ownership. We placed an order online and picked it up ourselves. It's worth giving them a quick call to check on the timing, even for online orders. The food was delicious and exactly what we wanted – a solid quality Chinese takeout.
I have ordered from Magic Wok twice, and both times my order was incorrect. They completely forgot the chicken wings and the chicken balls were not properly cooked. The food we received was cold, greasy, and overall bad. I have decided to stop ordering from them for delivery, as the owner always complains on social media and dismisses any criticism as not being valid. I have never had such a bad experience with any other restaurant, with really dumb mistakes. I tried to call to complain, but the line was busy, so it seems they took my money without providing the food. Overall, a disappointing and unprofessional establishment.
Order was advised delivery at food came with a missing article. call them and it was said it would take minen to get the product out. or if o order next time I would get the item for free. I. are already paid for the article so it would not be free. asked for a refund, suggested delivery kerl fall on the next round. no refund hours later.
Have been ordered by unicorn for years, same dishes and service always knew that there was about an hour on Friday/Saturday evening, but the least the meal would be fresh. first of the prices...has increased. Secondly, the order was delivered within minutes of ordering, indicating that none of our order was ordered on request, but was heated and then unfortunately one of our main dishes was missing, but replaced by a special fried rice. the lemon chicken was beautiful, but sitting in a thick lemon leek did not gel the beautiful lemon sauce that it was earlier. the crunchy crushed bark was rock hard. Eggs with brown rice? the blackballs were bland. nice chow mine. a shame.
We have been enjoying takeaway meals delivered by The Unicorn more or less weekly for the last years or so. We have our favourite dishes on the menu and it our Friday night go to meal to start the weekend. When family come to...stay from other parts of the uk they look forward to joining in and rate the food the best they have experienced. We rang to order last night and found that various ordering systems had changed because the business had been taken over. We’re not averse to things changing and modernising, and looked forward to our customary high standard of the food delivered. Sadly the meal was truly appalling. The starters were very overcooked, some pieces burnt, everything very dry and salty, and probably kept hot for a while. The main course of prawns with ginger and spring onion, which is usually lightly wok cooked with all the flavours separate and distinguishable was drowned in a dark brown, salty, gelatinous ‘gravy’ which had a most unpleasant taste and smell. The special fried rice was a very strange colour, with very little additional trimmings and again an unidentifiable and unpleasant aroma and flavour. Kim and her family have run a very reliable business over all these years with tasty food and personal service and we wish them well for the future but we shall not be patronising this establishment again now called MAGIC WOK- a chain it would seem.
