Bidrage med feedbackGrest Spanish food in mexiko. the best in the city. try the sancho panza and the desserts, they are worth it
Stopped in with the goal of grabbing a beer. We ordered beers and then the waiting just stood there refusing to leave until we ordered some food. We told him we needed more time but he wouldn't leave. So we ordered 2 sandwiches one with...chicken and one vegetarian the vegetarian items are marked with little green symbols. The waiter came back and said something to my boyfriend about not having a certain thing but having ham. After telling him several times we didn't speak Spanish we just said okay to whatever he was telling us. He was pointing to a menu item neither of us had even ordered. The food came one chicken and one ham. So even though we had told the waiter in Spanish that I was a vegetarian and ordered vegetarian somehow we got ham. It was cheap only $100 pesos and small like a snack. There are so many great places in the Condesa there isn't really any point in going here when you can walk down the block and find some place better that doesn't pressure you into ordering things.
We came here for a birthday meal and were pleasantly surprised with the number of vegetarian options, compared to many other restaurants in the city. The vegetarian options were all cheese or Spanish tortilla based, but with most of the cheeses having a good amount of...flavour, it works well. The meat options are far more varied and interesting. The food was okay and the sandwiches, priced between 15 and 30 pesos each were expensive for their size. A plate of potato wedges were about 25 to 30 pesos and well priced. If you only have a small appetite, this will work well. The on tap beer, I personally believe, may well have been watered down or different to brands advertised. My tiny wife drank 6 or more glasses and wasn't even tipsy at the end of the night, so my advice is to stick to the bottles. The sodas are flat and flavourless and all Pepsi branded. If you are walking around Coyoacan and want something simple as a quick pick me up, I think this would work well. The biggest issue is that there is no wait staff you order what you want and pay for it at one of the bars. You take your drinks back to your table and wait 15 to 30 mins for your food and pick it up downstairs. Overall, our party had a good night with few complaints about the food especially from me, the pickiest eater known to humanity.
I regularly have lunch at this place. It's nice, cheap, fast and good. Sometimes it's too lousy for me and if the weather is too hot I recommend not coming here, they have a poor air conditioner, especially at the outdoors.
Certainly not a destination restaurant, but if you are on a tight budget, you can get a decent amount of food for a cheap price, and the sidewalk seating gives a good chance for people watching. Several of the sandwich options are vegetarian, but very...simple (ie bread with cheese or bread with hummus). Don't leave without trying the tinto de verano, a cheap and refreshing drink, perfect for a leisurely summer afternoon.
