The Freeze - Crystal Lake

A Crystal Lake institution. Always busy but line goes quick. Cheese fries and twisted cone in coconut shell yum!

Supposed to be open. Hours show open. Doors locked.

I went there last year and they made my malt the way i asked. this year they refused and the young girl there looked at me like i was the stupid one. all i asked for was a large malt with using chocolate soft serve instead of the vanilla. she said they can't do that. any other place would!! the food is served only on hotdog buns, even the sloppy joe sandwich.

Went there today as google says they open at 11am. Drove an hour since I no longer live in Crystal Lake and when I got there, they were closed. I know for a fact it is easy to change google business hours. I have raved about this place ever since I moved away from Crystal Lake and encouraged people to make the drive. Not anymore. If you’re planning on taking a trip to come here, triple check their hours and get someone on the phone to verify. What a waste of two hours of my time today for nothing.

A tasty treat is worth the wait, even when the line stretches around the building. I highly recommend the root beer shakes and malts.
