Bidrage med feedbackThis restaurant is a great spot for meals, snacks, and desserts when they are operating at their best. However, we have been disappointed too many times by unavailable menu items and unexpected closures. It is frustrating when they do not offer their usual menu or are out of food. On top of that, we have waited in line patiently only to be told by the server that they have stopped serving food earlier than their posted closing time. Unfortunately, these letdowns have led us to dine at more reliable competitors. It is a shame because when they are on point, the food and service are excellent.
Great homemade soup and fantastic friendly service thankyou! looking forward to next time we visit
The service was terrible and the food was moldy! I was disgusted to discover that my sandwich had moldy bread after I had already started eating. When I brought it to the staff's attention, they were indifferent and reluctantly refunded me for the sandwich. There was a lack of care or concern from the staff. This wasn't the first time I've had a bad experience either. During my last visit, I was served expired juice, which was priced at £2.50 a carton. I recommend staying away from this restaurant.
The Potting Shed impresses on all fronts. The staff is both friendly and professional, the food is delicious, and the cakes are even better. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. The restaurant is dog-friendly, a sign of a well-managed establishment, and it is situated in a lovely setting. It appears that all of the food and drinks are locally sourced whenever possible. Kudos to the Potting Shed team, you have gained a new regular customer.
Been a few times recently as we happen to be at the quarry gardens quite a lot. On one occasion we were in a very long queue and in the unfortunate position that although in the queue in good time before the kitchen closed, they decided to stop serving food at the person just in front of us. Thankfully I managed to talk them into making a slice of toast for the kids but I can’t say that was simple. Wasn’t left impressed having stood around waiting for so long to get the front and be told they were stopping food regardless, but hey ho. The guy who bought the food out however was really friendly and lightened to mood for us (thank you lad whoever u are). The next time we arrived to find it shut even earlier so couldn’t eat in at all and left baffled by the strange closing time. The next time we went at an entirely different time of day and managed to get food. We ordered scrambled egg on toast and poached egg on toast. Scrambled egg on toast was lovely. The poached eggs were overdone so unfortunately not the same. I vowed that the next time I go I will have the scrambled instead to save the pain of overcooked yolk. Looked online as I know they’ve been messing about with opening hours, even more so due to hot weather which is understandable, and it said they were open until 4pm and stopping food at 3pm so we factored in stopping here for food and drink at 2:45pm. Arriving we were told they were actually closed but could do a cold drink from the fridge or an iced coffee. It prompted me to ask about an iced chocolate as this was on the old menu (isn’t on the new one), but after a brief moment to think about it, was told they couldn’t do it as they’d need the coffee machine on how they’d have done the offered iced coffee without a coffee machine I don’t know, but I’ve never made one myself. Opted for a coke and a cold pastry. The pastry was the driest thing I’ve ever eaten. I paid over £6 for the privilege which Is either crazy expensive or I was overcharged. Physically could not eat it and in the bin it went. Had they still been open and it not a swift takeaway I’d have sent it back. This place in my opinion is not as good as it once was (I have reviewed before and been more favourable). The hours are now unpredictable and quality of food varies (if u can get it). I would get it if it was just the heat causing the problem, but I’ve given it a number of goes since change of hands and not on a single occasion have I been impressed. Such a shame as we used to love this place. I only hope it improves one day as we’ve now opted to drive elsewhere down the road to eat drink which is much more inconvenient than the location of this cafe this cafe is actually in a nice place and looks lovely. I’m still putting it down to longer than normal teething problems, but the opening hour thing really needs resolving cuz it’s a right pain in the bum. Fingers crossed for you. I really want this place to work out for the owners!! It’s just not doing it for me yet.
