The Moorings - County Durham

The food was mediocre, the service was atrocious. The staff, 1 lady in particular, were miserable. Never checked if our food was OK. Didn't ask us if we wanted another drink and we had to ask them for the dessert menu. Definitely would not go back.

Front of house service good, friendly and helpful. Food awful, would not recommend, pity because in the past we have had some nice evenings there.

Really enjoyed our meal here, lovely restaurant with ‘proper chips’! I like the fact that they are back to doing pub classics and not just Italian

Food was okay, but plentiful. Chips overcooked bordering on burnt but lots of meat in the hot beef bap. Zero atmosphere, no background music. We opted for table service but had to chase staff for drinks desserts even though there were only two other tables of customers. Views from the windows would have been beautiful had the windows been clean enough to see out of properly! Would maybe go again... unsure.

Arrived on Friday evening to be greeted by the manager, booked in and were shown to the room that was fantastic, clean and well maintained, grabbed a shower in the lovely spotless Bathroom before heading for the evening meal, ordered the meal and complimented how tasty it was , good portions and well priced, in the morning headed up for breakfast that yet again was outstanding, i must thank the team at the Moorings for making our 2 night stay fantastic in every way, i would recommend people try the moorings as it's under new owners (mid June) who have been great, look forwards to visiting again VERY soon
