Bidrage med feedbackHubby and I have been visiting Chesney's at least once week since before the pandemic! The staff are all wonderfully friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The coffee has to be the best of any cafe/restaurant we've visited in Durham and the food is always freshly prepared with good sized portions, the hot food being exceptional value certainly a place that's well worth the visit if you're shopping in the area and need a quick bite to eat.
Lovely staff, great food and the cake was SUPERB! Highly recommended and much better than the other food offerings nearby.
We have been going here for years now. The owner his family are great to chat to. We have tried several items on the menu, all good food from a great cafe.
Its 2 years since I last reviewed this place- the other side of the pandemic- and I am so pleased that it is till going strong in November 2021 with the same staff and more. Its an independent cafe, wont win any awards for romantic ambience and ina an area of Durham full of students it doesnt seem to have any custom from that cohort. Most people are in pairs and are of a certain age -a bit like me. The hot roast meat sandwich can have fried onions, sage and onion stuffing and gravy, its made while you wait, and is delicious with plenty of filling for the price paid. The chicken curry special was full of meat and tasty although it wont win any authenticity awards, it came with rice, chips and naan bread. Remember to leave room for the ginger pudding and custard, we had one between two as the portions are big enough to share. We have had ginger pudding in few cafes but this one is the best by far. There 's loads of parking as its tucked away on the Dragonville retail park , just walk past Greggs and you will be pleased that you did.
The cafe has elegant nostalgic interior design, decent coffee, and traditional british desserts. The staff are friendly and swift.
