Laura our waitress last night, she was so welcoming and helpful and really looked after us the food was all excellent and all the staff were great but Laura stood out! The six of us have straightaway rebooked for Saturday, our last night here treat!

I recently dined at the restaurant for a roast dinner and was disappointed. Out of the 5 people in our group, 2 thought it was just 'ok' while the other 2 adults absolutely hated it. The gravy was grey, the roast potatoes were strange, and we had difficulties convincing the chef to add a Yorkshire pudding to the roast pork, even when we offered to pay extra. Fortunately, the waitress understood the importance of good customer service. Perhaps the chef was having a bad day, as our experience did not match the positive reviews from other diners. The waitresses who attended to us were both delightful and worked diligently.

Had a wonderful lunch at The Bassett today. We booked a table in advance to be safe, and were warmly greeted by the bar staff upon arrival. We decided to try the Mussels cooked in a creamy cider sauce with skinny chips from the specials board, and they were hands down the best Mussels we have ever had. The mussel meat filled the shell in almost every one, the sauce was delicious, and the skinny fries were a hit. My husband has celiac disease, and the landlady assured us that his meal would be gluten-free. We will definitely be returning sooner rather than later to this friendly local pub. I had the unfortunate experience of being served by the most rude waitress ever. When we requested onion rings, we were told they were not available and if we didn't like it, we could go eat somewhere else. The food itself was comparable to the song from the musical "Grease." We had such a negative experience that we refused to pay. We will never be returning.
