Bidrage med feedbackWe were actually driving to Coombs to pick up a vehicle when we drove past this building and I saw goats on the roof.
A visit to parksville will never be complete without passing by this place always a hometown fav..i look at this place as a country wholefoods.
We stopped at this restaurant when we saw the goats and we're glad we did. We tried the tuna wrap, broccoli salad, and soup, all of which were very good. The staff was very friendly and efficient. It's a fun place to stop, especially with the beautiful weather.
Had to wait a long time for our food, no explanation as to why. The fish tacos were small but tasty however the tortillas should be warmed not served cold as they just break into pieces. Our waitress sat us right beside the garbage can...where they clean plates, even though the place was maybe a quarter full. Then the waitress dumped us onto someone else even though she was still working. We are from out of town and made a special trip to the Market but should have eaten at the Italian restaurant
My husband and I went to the Old Country Market Cafe in Coombs on August 19th for lunch. It was very busy so we had to stand in a long line to wait to order. While watching all of the kitchen staff busily preparing all of the food for the pending orders on the other side of the counter, I couldn't help but notice a young woman in the prep area that had her dark hair piled neatly high up on top of her head. The reason why she stood out to me was because she was back in the prep area in plain view of everyone standing in line that was waiting to order .... but this particular employee was picking the food she was preparing out from under her artificial fingernails and letting it fall back onto the food. It looked to me like perhaps it was cheese curds as she was preparing poutine?? I saw her pick at food under her fingernails on two separate occasions and thought that she needed to perhaps realize that she was in plain view of everyone, that she was in a food preparation area and that she should not have fake nails glued on to her fingertips while dealing with food. My husband looked at me and said quietly "You want to leave now don't you?" but I was a trooper and stayed, as I knew the food would be good, as we have eaten here before .... and I knew that we were not having poutine. We ordered two pieces of fish and chips ($16.99) and a side order of onion rings ($5.99) which we then shared. The wait time was pretty good, maybe less than half an hour, but considering they were very busy we totally understood. We had asked for "no salt" on our french fries, but they came with salt and because the place was so busy we didn't feel like waiting in line and re-ordering. If this Establishment thinks I am making up the story of the young woman with the fake fingernails on this particular day at lunch time, I think they need to check their schedule for that day, as there is no way I could make it up. Unfortunately the employees here do not wear name tags, or else I would have included her name.We will be back despite my three star review. Food is good, hot and plentiful ... but please no more artificial finger nails.
