Hendrix - Columbia

Not sure what we were getting ourselves into, while visit Columbia, we saw the sign for the rooftop bar and figured we’d give it a shot. Sure glad we did. Loved the vibe up there. Not really a complaint, more of a comment, they only had (2) bartenders working, and a bar-back and the place was packed. From a patrons perspective, a 3rd bartender and/or a servers roving and taking drinks from those at the couches would have been great. From a business perspective, no doubt more drinks and food could have been sold. However, they might do that and we just got them a night where they were down people. Beyond some extended waits at the bar for drinks, the service was great the drinks were greats and the ambiance was great. Views were lacking, but ya can’t have everything. We’d totally go back, without a doubt!

I was really excited about the rooftop experience but it wasn’t too accommodating, bar staff was limited and not hospitable. So I decided to go downstairs and eat, I ordered blue crab hush puppies and mussels. I was dissatisfied with tasting sand and pieces of shell. The atmosphere and decor was very serene.Food: 3/5

My Lady and I got dressed and went out a few weekends ago. We stopped at Hendrix to check out the rooftop. But it was too packed for what we wanted that night. But trust and believe we 'll be back up there soon. We decided to eat downstairs in the main dining area. It was quiet and peaceful..just what we wanted before the turn up later on?.We had one of the best servers we 've ever had and she helped us out tremendously. We went ..back, back, forth and forth with Aaliyah (pun intended). She knew her stuff..from drinks to appetizers to entrees. I can 't remember the drinks at this point. But all her selections were spot on. We had so much fun chatting it up with her that I didn 't even remember to write the names down of what we tried??‍.For our appetizers, we tried the PEI Mussels (Prince Edward Island) and the Mushroom Toast. Both were good. But the Mushroom Toast won us over. I was a little disappointed about the amount of mussels we got (I think about 8). We 've been to some other upscale restaurants and are usually served a bowl of mussels?On to the entrees. Aaliyah got us right because she helped us make the best meal decisions!! My last had braised pork which may have been the Chicken fried Quail and I had the Market Catch. It may have been flounder, but I 'm not sure. Somebody check out the picks and help me list these correctly. All I know is, EVERYTHING was great. Aaliyah even gave us recommendations for the next time we come in for dinner. We 'll be looking for her when we come back!

I arrived here as the sun was setting, and the rooftop is lovely! The food and drink I consumed were both excellent. Since the restaurant's inside reeked of raw fish, I was relieved to see a rooftop. There are good vibes in the air. I had a wonderful time!

The rooftop area is cozy and inviting. Great ambiance. Grabbed a few small plates and a couple of drinks and throughly enjoyed all of it (blue crab hush puppies were my favorite). The only thing lacking was an inviting staff. While efficient, the gentlemen working the rooftop bar lack the warmth and friendliness I’ve become accustomed to when dining in Columbia. Would be an easy five stars had they been more engaging.
